Hi! My name is Meg, and I’ve been a regular at Kava Luv for just about a year now. A coworker turned friend introduced me to kava bars as a whole and right away I knew that I'd found something special. Almost a year ago, I attended a craft night hosted by Luv, where a crafty kavatender was teaching a group of people the basics of how to crochet, and I absolutely fell in love with it. I took myself to Michael's the next day and bought myself the basics- some discount yarn in horrendous colors and the cheapest hook I could find, since I didn't want to commit to a hobby I was brand new to. Since that day, I’ve only gotten more and more into crocheting and other related crafts (such as embroidery, sewing, etc) 

A  few months ago I began my very own small business selling the things I make. I had my very first booth at a Kava Luv Wellness Wednesday, which felt like the perfect full circle moment from picking up  a hook for the first time to showcasing what I am now capable of. 

The bulk of my makes get done over the botanical teas Kava Luv has to offer and amongst the friends I have made there, as crocheting is something that can be done without your full attention span once you get the hang of it. 

Over the past few months, more and more regulars at Luv have taken up crocheting, and now I find it rare to be there without somebody else also doing some sort of craft. This has led me to start the Crochet Corner, which will be a dedicated space for people to come and craft with others. 

Historically, any sort of “domestic” craft like knitting, crocheting, and embroidery was done in a social setting, a craft circle, and I don’t see any reason not to continue that. The Crochet Corner will be for everyone of any skill level, with patterns available for all levels and basic supplies available for those who don’t have their own or just want to try it out for the night.

I am so excited to bring the Crochet Corner to life, as I am extremely passionate about my fun little hobby and have really loved sharing it with others over the past year. Crochet Corner starts on August 8th and will continue on the  second Tuesday of every month from then on, I can’t wait to see you there!
