Embracing a New Path: Jess Noom's Journey at Kava Luv
Allow me to introduce myself, I'm Jess Noom, the new Executive Manager at Kava Luv Social Lounge. Today, I want to share my story with you and how Kava Luv has become a significant part of my life. Join me on this adventure of transformation, friendship, and the power of genuine connections.
Not too long ago, I found myself caught in the cycle of heavy drinking, spending most nights at the bar. Deep down I knew this wasn't bringing me joy, but at the time it was the only path I knew. Exhausted and always feeling less than my best, I made the decision to break away, becoming more of a homebody. However, this choice meant missing out on socializing with friends because I no longer wanted to drink. It was during this time that a friend of a friend mentioned a new drink, a replacement for those wild nights. Intrigued, I drove 30 minutes to the closest kava bar, and from that moment I was hooked. Kava provided the social setting I craved, but without the negative side effects of regretful decisions and hangovers. Through this incredible drink, I discovered the courage to reach out to people, forming new connections and engaging in deep, meaningful conversations, all of which I could remember vividly.
It took a couple of years after finding kava, for bars to start opening in Naples. During that time, I became an active member of the community, regularly visiting another bar. It was there that I met Vanessa, who is now a kavatender at Kava Luv. Back then, Vanessa was working at the bar I frequented. When she moved to Kava Luv upon its opening, I followed her as a customer. Little did I know that this decision would lead to some of the most genuine connections and friendships I have ever experienced. Since that day, I have loved every moment spent at Kava Luv.
From the moment Kava Luv opened its doors, I became a regular visitor. It didn't take long for me to form close bonds with many of the people here. However, it was after Hurricane Ian struck that I made the decision to work at Kava Luv. The hurricane had a significant impact on my job, resulting in a loss of clients and affecting my livelihood. Seeking a fresh start, I reached out and asked to work as a Kavatender. Initially, I planned on staying temporarily while I rebuilt my career, but the warmth and camaraderie of the team made me fall in love with Kava Luv. It quickly became more than just a workplace, it became my family, and the customers turned into cherished friends. Spend just one day at Kava Luv, and you'll understand why I devote so much of my free time to this incredible place.
When it comes to botanical tea drinks, my favorite changes as often as the weather. I'm always on the lookout for new and refreshing options. Recently, I crafted my own version of Lavender Lemonade using a limited-time ingredient (which I used selfishly for my own enjoyment). However, the one drink that remains consistent is a Kava with Vanilla and Almond creamer,my trusty and reliable choice that never disappoints.
Seasonal events at Kava Luv hold a special place in my heart. It's truly incredible to witness the unwavering support from the community and the Kava Luv family. Even with other obligations and competing events, so many people make it a priority to spend the holidays with us here.
While botanical teas are a go-to for most people, I appreciate the benefits of both kava and botanical teas. In the morning, I'm a big fan of mixing kava with my cold brew, it does an excellent job of banishing any lingering morning funk. Kava sets the tone for both the beginning and end of my day, while botanical teas provide refreshing moments throughout.
Currently, I hold two positions at Kava Luv. First, as a Kavatender, my role extends far beyond simply making drinks. We serve as educators, experts, and friends to all our customers, ensuring their experience is nothing short of exceptional. Additionally, I have recently accepted the role of Executive Manager and am currently undergoing training. In this new position, I will oversee operations at multiple locations, an exciting opportunity that allows me to combine my passion for business management with the joy of helping people grow.
Beyond my work at Kava Luv, I find joy in expressing my creativity through artwork. I have my own jewelry business and spend my free time making earrings and necklaces, often while indulging in a good TV show at home.
As cliché as it may sound, Kava Luv truly feels like a family. I genuinely love every person I work with, and all the friends I have made along this incredible journey. There simply isn't another place quite like it. Join me and the remarkable community at Kava Luv in Keeping the Luv alive!
